The article really just discusses ACPI, which has been an industry-wide power management since somewhere around Win95. Linux has several different management schemes, although I don't remember the names of all of them. However, there is: http://wiki.debian.org/HowTo/CpuFrequencyScaling It's installed already on Debian; apologies if it isn't as straight-forward on Ubuntu There's also Laptop Mode Tools--although I don't know if they're up-to-date: http://samwel.tk/laptop_mode/laptop_mode http://www.ubuntugeek.com/laptop-mode-tools-laptop-power-saving-package-for-linux-systems.html While I was digging those up, I came across this link, which looks good and thorough: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_reduce_power_consumption -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Linux Users Group.
