hi vinay,

Create a ".qmail " (hidden file) in the users home folder and write "./Maildir/" in the file. The contents of the file should be similar to the contents of /var/qmail/defaultdelivery.

First try injecting a mail via qmail-inject program without any MTA. use the following command from a root user or any normal user.

echo To: <email-id> qmail-inject.

Then check the logs in /var/qmail/log/current.
It should show success.

Rgds,
Tanmay

hi Guys,
qmail:
i am a newbie .......
on using "Mailbox" format everything was working fine but
after changing to "Maildir" in /var/qmail/rc ,installing
qmail-pop3d pop3 server,
{ i used  "maildirmake  " command as a normal system user to create
Maildir folder for respective users}

  i encountered the following errors:

telnet domain-name.com 110 was working fine ....
but mail sent via any MTA was not getting delivered to Maildir folder

i also tried mutt(after configuring for Maildir format)
i even tried sending mail via telnet domain-name.com 25 (SMTP)

qmailctl queue --showed mails in queue

then i stopped qmail & qmail-pop3d,,emptied the queue  and rebooted
the m/c.

after reboot "ps -el" listing for the WCHAN field started showing
"pipe_w" for splogger,multilog,qmail-clean,readproctitle processes

inst_check script gave satisfactory results.

how do i get rid of "pipe_w"

current situation:i ve rebooted the m/c no: of times.still no success
in getting rid of "pipe_w" and using "Maildir " format.

secondly,
i wanna know that after qmail delivers mail to Mailbox/Maildir as per
the configuration.how does pop3 server  enables any
MTA to retrieve mails (do any other associated tasks with them) ??

how to i make qmail reread /var/qmail/rc file ?????

[ qmailctl restart ---rereads  (qmail-send & qmail-smtpd) run files
and corresponding log run files ]

with regards,
vinay.
