Hi,

There are two basic requirement for it as below,

1. Either 2 network cards with 1 configured as a local LAN IP and theother one 
as the public IP or 1 network card with either of the localLAN IP or public IP 
configured as physical IP and the other aliased tothe physical IP.
2. IP forwarding enabled by making a permanent entry in /etc/sysctl.conf

After this you can give your Linux box's local LAN IP as a gateway onall the 
other machines in the LAN
