HI Shrikant,
Two things.
1. Did you try the solution of setting GID bit. As mentioned in your first
mail you said that the files or directories under public folder should be
accessible by users. so setting GID bit and making all users member of that
group which owns public directory should be ok.
2. You can set 777 permissions for any file or directory. by default execute
permission is disabled for any new file created. you can set umask 0 as
follows:
umask 000 (or 0)
rwxrwxrwx
mask ---------
what comes through rwxrwxrwx (directories)
rw-rw-rw- (files)
But for this to work you will have to set teh umask for all users.
Secondly setting 777 directory or file permission is not advisable
considering security.
