Dear All,

This is output of free command, System is consuming full RAM, swap is not used
at all,

I tried with following command but doesn't work.
swapoff -a
/sbin/mkswap /dev/sda2
swapon -a
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 964052 954872 9180 0 87764 418076
-/+ buffers/cache: 449032 515020
Swap: 2104504 0 2104504

So how to make it work.

Regards
Nilesh

Hi,
Ya this happens on production servers, but this does not means that server will
hang. kernel occupies the memory more than it uses. 20% of memory which it
shows used is free. swap is used when kernel wants some program to run after
certain period, it puts that on swap.
