Hi,
 Also delete the file from /var/lock/subsys/squid. Check the disk space of /var 
filesystem.
Check the file size of access.log, cache.log and store.log under 
/var/log/squid, if any one of its has reached 2GB then rename and touch new 
file with user and group squid.
 
Check your /etc/resolv.conf file for dns entry.
 
 If your problem is not solved send your cache.log file.

I have received this error,

service squid status
squid dead but pid file exists
squid: ERROR: Could not send signal 0 to process 3803: (3) No such process

also i remove squid.pid file from /var/run

but after restart service  received same error
