Hi,

I have three Bind servers. Off late I found qmail fails to send mail to
microsoft.com

On checking for the cause of the issue on the internet, I found that qmail does
a lookup for 'ANY' records of the domain (dig ANY domain.com). In case of
@microsoft.com combined with Bind DNS server, the lookup times out. I tried it
on the DNS server as well. It is able to pull records from another DNS server
(ISP). But if I query my Bind DNS server, it times out. This results in Bounce
back of emails to @microsoft.com

Did anyone come across this issue before? It seems to be really old one dating
back to bind version 4.

As solution, it is suggested to use dnscache/djbdns to get around this issue.
Many talk of size limit of query on qmail (512) but I guess that is not the
case.
Just doing 'dig ANY microsoft.com' from a BIND dns server, result in time out
(make sure that your server is not pulling records from other DNS server when
testing).
For instance..
I have a server 172.16.25.203 as qmail server.
resolv.conf is 172.16.25.113 -- our DNS server.
I did a dig on qmail server and it queries the DNS server. The result is
timeout. But, the same works fine for yahoo.com, google.com etc.. just fails
with M$ y???

Please throw some light.. I am almost gone mad trying to understand y!!
