If You want to impalement ur Mail server for testing and in ur office for in 
house Test no need to DNS or MX record.

Last I cheked, a DNS server was mandatory for mail server - you cannot

use the hosts file. What I do in situations like these is create a dns

server on the mail server itself using BIND.
