There might be many other ways and tools available for this, but I measure bandwidth by transferring a large file from one end of the line to another end using FTP. Once the FTP transfer completes, it gives details about so many bytes tranferred in so much time and at so much speed. I usually create a big (2-4 GB) file using dd. Regards, NMK.
