The current xf86-input-wacom git doesn't detect the baudrate of serial tablets correctly.
If anyone has problems with the serial tablet being detected but not working, add a "BaudRate" option to the Wacom serial class in 50-wacom.conf in xorg.conf.d. For example, my Thinkpad X61 Tablet requires a baud rate of 19200. Additionally, there are problems with detecting multiple tools as the same device (e.g, stylus will initialize correctly, but eraser will not, causing wacom to unload).
