I installed Fedora Core 5 the other day, and am happy to report that it has within the distribution a linuxwacom-0.7.2 package that recognizes my tablet. All I had to do was put the appropriate information into xorg.conf and now all works, including pressure sensitivity.
My question is if there is a way to configure things so that the Gimp's "window" mode works - where the surface of the tablet would be mapped to the drawing window rather than the whole screen. It sounds like that would be helpful as a way to get better detail out of a small tablet surface. But advice on the net that I've found (including the linuxwacom howto) mostly just suggests using screen mode.
