thanks, now this is really odd, since the wacom-tools in my
testing/unstable distribution did not create that directory. But
ubuntu is basically debian? Hm may be I should send a bug report. A
question: do you have the package udev installed. I don't and right
now I can't so may be this is the problem.

Well I tried in my XF86Config varios substitutions 

Instead of /dev/input/wacom
/dev/input/eventX X=0,1,2,3

None of them worked. However, when I tried 

sudo wadump /dev/input/event3 then the moving the pen caused how shall
I say some reaction. I will try that out, right now.
