Ah, I had SendCoreEvents next to my pad in the server section. After
removing it, the tablet wheel now acts like the mouse wheel. The only
thing I noticed is that in, for example, Firefox, which recognizes a
mouse wheel and scrolls the page accordingly, the direction is
reversed. If you dial it away from you, the page moves down, and vice
versa, the opposite to the mouse wheel behaviour. However, I found
that reversing the values in the g4_buttons conf file fixed that:

01 Scroll Wheel Up: 995
02 Scroll Wheel Up Plus: 0
03 Scroll Wheel Down: 994

Just curious: is there any simple way of mapping the pad buttons to an
action? I was thinking it might be useful in gimp to map the left
button to the main dialog and the left to the levels/channels dialog
or something like that. There are some entry fields under "pad" in the
Configure Extended Input Devices dialog that look promising, but
unfortunately the gimp documentation
<http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-prefs-dialog.html> doesn't have any
information on it.

Thanks for your assistance.
