This is my first post to the list. I have tried to search the list for this answer but have come up empty.
I purchased an Intuos 3 6x8 for my gal to work on, followed your excellent how-to and the one on the Ubuntu site. I also found and installed expresskeys. Setting up was much less difficult than I imagined it would be. I am using 0.7.2 on Dapper's 2.6.15-20-k7 #1 SMP PREEMPT. I didn't foresee the problem that there is distortion because this is a wide-screen monitor. I have switched the pad to relative mode, but this is not a great solution for an artist looking to draw anatomy. I read the man page and came up with TopX etc. which looked promising, and I tried setting TopX to 128 and BottomX to 1152, thinking that the "active area" was on the screen, but it was actually a rather small area on the pad instead. I believe that I can set a portion of the pad inactive using TopX etc. ad make the relative dimensions correct, but I'm not sure how to do that. I could use some help in determining the full xy dimensions of the pad so that I can make this happen. If someone recognizes this as an idiotic idea with a better solution, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help.
