Ok I've released the fix as 1.0b3 - http://alavaliant.googlepages.com/wacom-config-1.0b3.py
Let me know if you still have any issues with settings applying.

Thanks
Jason

Thanks for the testing Dirk.  I've just worked out the root cause of the bug you've found.  The weird thing is that button 2 shouldn't on paper be changing back either with that bug present...   Anyway I'll work on a fix for it and have it in for 1.0b3.

It works! :D
Even against my /etc/xorg.conf o.O

I just tested modifying the tip though to test if it is reset after a reboot. And now I just wanted you to know that the new method works for Ubuntu Dapper and default session (didn't change anything when logging in via GDM).
By that I perhaps noticed a little bug:

I tested the different versions of your programm by changing the stylus buttons 1 and 2 (tip and first sidebutton). I just swap them so 1=right-click and 2=click. Than I restartet my pc and proofed the config.
When changing the tip config back to "click" (restarting or not doesn't matter here) it just won't. Its fixed to right-click. Button2 instead changes perfectly back.

It adds the 'sensitivity' control the same as wacomcpl.   Uses 'session-manual' to ensure startup on login for gnome users that the freedesktop standard doesn't work for and has a few bug fixes.

Thanks
Jason
