If it's built as a module you can see it in the list from 'lsmod' ('lsmod | 
grep usbhid' is probably easiest). Strange.. It's in my list now when I run 
it...

linuxwacom uses the same files for both 2.6.11 and 2.6.12, so ensure that you 
have replaced both wacom.c (=wacom.ko) and hid-core.c (=part of usbhid.ko) 
from .../src/2.6.11 and then make the (modules for the) kernel. That *should* 
be it...

Just check the man-page first so you know what they do and if you're 
interested in them at all (xorg.conf).
