I can't think of anything else that may affect your Graphire. Make sure to remove anything Top/Bottom X/Y related in xorg.conf and ~/.xinitrc so your driver stays with default X/Y. Also, add: Option "DebugLevel" "10" to your xorg.conf and check /var/log/Xorg.0.log (tail -f /var/log/Xorg.0.log) to see what's reported there when your tool is outside of the tablet active area.
