thanks for replying...

i have checked /var/log/Xorg.0.log and couldn't find nything relating to either 
wacom or event0.
i must admit i'm relatively new to linux, and don't know exactly what i'm 
looking for anyway.
if the device is not configured properly, are there any specific modules i need 
to load?

i simply did a configure/make/make install (the other usb stuff didn't seem to 
apply to me).
