Hi again,
is there really no one here who can give me a hand with that machine?
I found so many people posting problems here and all over the internet with
this specific machine that i thought it would be interesting to sort this
out...

The problem again:
the linux wacom drivers do not work out-of-the-box on a compaq tc1000 (well
known tabletPC, kind of 'the' tabletPC if it comes to design :-) )

The driver (serial) can be installed and is loaded by X.org, the problem is
before: with a TC1000 and a TC1100 the tablet is not connected to the serial
port after a power on. This has to be initialized first. There are quite some
rumours about how this is done, but nothing really seems work. the most
promising step is what is recommended in the wacom how-to for serial devices.
There is a special section with a short c-program that is said to do the job.
However that program is designed for a TC1100, the setup seems to differ
slightly from a TC1000, so I would like to find out WHAT to change. Since I
am a newbie that is too much for me.

The section 7.0 in the wacom how-to (see the middle of that page):
http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/index.php/howto/tabletpc

Note that the #include statements are not html-escaped, you will have to
cut&paste from the html page source :-)

My problem:
I understand roughly what the small app is supposed to do, but I have no clue
how to find out what byte sequence i have to use and write where for my
hardware. How do I find out what chip, and what registers ?

Sorry for this mess, but a s a newbie I has so happy about getting holt of
that smart machine, and now I cannot get the tablet to work at all...

arkascha
