The tablet (Graphire 3) is being picked up by usbmouse. Unplugging the
tablet and rmmod-ing usbmouse and restarting the x server and then
plugging in the tablet lets the tablet work. Clearly I would like it so
that the tablet just works on startup and so I THINK that I should be
trying to replace the usbmouse.ko(.gz) that my kernel is currently using
with one which handles wacom tablets a little better. Unfortunately
there is no usbmouse.c to use in linuxwacom/src/2.6.16 and so
./configure won't let me build usbmouse.ko. Is there a different
usbmouse.c I can use (to build or put in the kernel tree and build that)
or are there any other ways to get the tablet correctly detected? I've
tried putting wacom as a module to be loaded in xorg.conf but it didn't
help.

I'm using kernel 2.6.17-14 (which uses the files from
linuxwacom/src/2.6.16) on Madriva Spring 2007 with linuxwacom 0.7.8-1
and am pretty new to linux, so be gentle with me.
