Dear Authors, Before the IETF meeting, we check working group agendas for documents with IANA-related issues. We have notes about this document:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-ietf-lisp-map-server-reliable-transport-07 About the new registry location: Section 9.1 says, 'IANA is asked to create a registry group name "LISP Reliable Transport Message Types" under the "Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) Parameters" registry.' However, "Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) Parameters" is a registry group, not a registry. Is this a request to create a separate group at a new URL, and list the registries in the "Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) Parameters" category at https://www.iana.org/protocols? We can do that, but some aspects of iana.org/protocols may change, so it would be better to leave out 'under the "Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) Parameters" registry'. We're unable to create a separate group within the group at https://www.iana.org/assignments/lisp-parameters. If that's the intention, we would recommend creating the group at a separate URL. We could add a pointer to those registries to https://www.iana.org/assignments/lisp-parameters. About the new registry names: 1) Section 9.1 states that its new registry will be called “Message Type,” but Section 9.2 and 9.3 don’t provide exact names for the registries. Can you add them? 2) https://www.iana.org/assignments/lisp-parameters has registries of “Types,” but no registry name that ends with “Type.” Would it be appropriate to call the new registry “Message Types” instead? 3) We generally recommend identifying the protocol at the beginning of the protocol name, especially when registry names are commonly used within other protocol registries as well. This could be helpful for users using a search engine. The string “Message Types” appears 69 times at iana.org/protocols, but many of them use names like "ANCP Message Types" and "CAPWAP IEEE 802.11 Message Types." If you have any questions, just let us know. If you'd like to talk in person, you can find us next to the RFC Editor's table from Monday through Thursday. You can also request another review at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
