I don't think they're right to do it; I just don't think that
AOL is going to change things any time soon, and asking them
politely to make a change is not going to make a difference. Those
affected by this change might as well move directly to a solution
that's within their means to effect.
YahooMail broke SmartList a long time ago with their silly "@yahoo.com"
signature files, but never did anything about it. AOL vs. BestServ
is a foregone conclusion.
