We found a helpful contact within the @home network, who earlier today reported:

 >I just received word regarding this issue. Apparently, this particular
 >server experienced problems with the load balancer on the server. Our
 >Engineering Ops staff were up all night correcting the situation.
 >
 >Apparently now, the server is receiving all the queued mail from random
 >servers that were blocked out from the load balancer, thus increasing the
 >inbound traffic load and slowing mail delivery down. I am told though, that
 >people should be able to connect and send email, as the issue has been
 >resolved on this end.

Indeed, our mail queue has decreased from 5000+ @home.com messages earlier
today to about 1100 at this time.
