Dear subscribers

I am new to majordomo and mailing lists in general but have been asked to
set up a mailing list using majordomo on our virtual server running FREE
BSD.

I'm not sure of the version of majordomo but this is what is written at the
head of majordomo.pl:
$Header: /sources/cvsrepos/majordomo/majordomo.pl,v 1.56 1997/08/27 14:58:53
c

I have created a list and all seemed to be working as it should. However the
list has started sendin three copies of each message.

If a message is sent at say 9:36am a second message is sent around 9:59am
and then a third at some hour or half hour interval later.

It appears that exactly three copies of each message are sent each time a
posting is made.

I have created a test List by copying all the original list files and
editing the aliases file. I have removed all the original list subscribers
and used my own set of test e-mail addresses to subscribe with.

I cannot reproduce the multiple mailing problem with the new list.

Presumably the problem lies with a list subscriber and some mail looping
problem.

The sender for the second and third mails sent out by the list each gave the
original sender in the header. I would have thought that a problem caused by
an autoreply set up by one of the list members would result in that
particular list member having their name in the 'sender'/from field for all
repeated messages.

Could there be a problem in that if sendmail thinks the message has not been
received by all recipients it tries to resend the message again later ?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
