People on the list can tell you simple things to help you, but not being familiar with the code or the server, no one can debug your problem, except for throwing guesses at it.  Your going to have to debug it yourself your hire someone to help you.
I'd recommend going through performance monitor and seeing what is taking so much CPU time.  Get familiar with your system, it may be one scheduled task taking up the CPU, or one huge CF page being loaded constantly, or an endless loop (which will eat up memory also).  It may be spiders hitting pages in ways that you don't expect them to.  Check your web log files and find out what pages cause errors, and what pages take the most time to load.  Optimize all code on the server.  I've seen where taking out all select *'s out of a site more than doubled the amount of simultaneous users allowed at a time.  Basically, it could be anything, even though sloppy code is the most common problem, you're going to have to debug the problem and find a solution.  It could be users having to wait in line for a thread.  Set simultaneous users to 5 times the number of CPU's.  1 CPU's= 5, 2=10, ...  If your not serving any html pages off the server allocate more threads to CF.
First identify where the problem is, narrow it down to what CF process is slowing down the machine.  Check all the code in that section and optimize it.
It may just be that you have to many simultaneous requests hitting your server, and you need to add a CPU or another box.
I could go on forever, buy you get the idea.

Subject: Web Server CPU Maxed Out

Hello.
Sorry to be redundant, but I would like to re-visit a topic that I know was discussed. I have a CF server that is maxing out the CPU and I do not know why. This is an NT 4.0 server running CF Server Pro 4.5, SP2. I have done everything I can think of like unchecking the Maintain Database Connection setting, making sure that simultaneous requests are limited to 5, running the cycle.bat program so that the server stops and starts automatically at 2:00 AM, and ensuring that the MDAC is the current version, but CF is still taking up over 90% of the CPU. I have searched the Allaire site and I cannot find any reference, and of course since I have not had this happen before I ignored all of the messages that were being passed around some time ago. Any assistance would really be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bruce
