we've never been able to get billy's way to work totally correctly either. I think that mime configuration is dependent on the USER's machine & if they don't have excel installed, causes a variety of issues... we had a custom tag that worked similar to marlon's way, but when we went to cf4.5 it stopped working altogether... I'll have to check out the sp status & see if that's the problem... all the other things we looked at required excel running on the server, which I didn't think was that smart of an idea...
