Funny you should ask. I recently upgraded my system from an AMD K6 500 to an AMD Athalon 1700+. When I installed the new board and processor, XP crapped on itself big time. So what I had to do was to put in the old hardware, back everything up then re-image the system with Win98. I then installed the new hardware, and then upgraded back to XP, and I was not told to call M$ to re-activate XP. However, with the eval version I was using, when I reinstalled XP on my machine, I had to call M$ to activate it again. I know that when you activate XP, information is sent to M$ that is unique to your machine. Perhaps they figured out what they did and made it so that if you re-install on the same machine, it know this and thus you do not have to re-activate.
This is just a guess on my part. -----Original Message----- From: Dave Cahall [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2001 1:04 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: cf 5 and Windows XP What is your opinion of XP?
