You should use SQL Server authentication – I haven’t managed to use Windows authentication successfully with the native SQL Server driver.

Important to note: when you installed SQL Server, did you select SQL Server authentication or Windows authentication only?  Note that if you didn’t select SQL Server authentication, when authenticating against SQL Server, specifying a username/password will have NO effect.  (You can fix this by reinstalling, or hacking the registry – I forget the exact key)

However, if you’re using Window authentication, you should be able to use ODBC Socket without a problem (provided you specify that it’s a trusted connection).

(There’s gotta be a way to get around all of this by assigning permissions for the account that CFMX runs under to the database, but I haven’t been able to sort that out yet)

Native SQL Server.  I know SQL Server is running.  Should I be using a SQL Server account or NT Authenticated account for the username/password for the ODBC connection.

It looks like the ODBC Socket connection has to select a odbc name.  If I cannot get the ODBC connection to work, then how will the ODBC Socket work?

I get this error when either SQL Server is ShutDown OR

The username and password are incorrect.

What kind of connection are trying to establish?  Native Sql Server, ODBC Socket?!

I’m getting this error message:

Connection verification failed for data source: xmlContentSolutions
[]java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your username, password, URL, and other connectivity info.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your username, password, URL, and other connectivity info.

I’ve tried assigning sa sql server account to the database and then use sa as the login/password for ODBC connection.  No Luck.  I’ve tried creating a new SQL Server account and use that as the login.  No Luck.  Any help would be appreciated.

I believe if you use ODBC Socket connections, you can use the Trusted Connection option.  Otherwise you are required to specify the UID and Password.

I’ve installed CFMX, but am having difficulty with the ODBC connections.  Most of my ODBC connections rely upon Trusted Connection option.  I do not see this option in the administrator?  Does CFMX force a Username and Password?
