Not for the standalone web server. I think Macromedia did that intentionally,
since their web server isn’t intended as a production web server.
Managing it is more comparable to Apache
than IIS – configuration files.

I haven't had a chance to play with the CFMX
development server yet... does the server not include any type of
administration features (ala CF Admin?)

I figured
it would be the jrun.xml file located
C:\CFusionMX\runtime\servers\default\SERVER-INF. This is where you can
change the port number. I looked inside but nothing jumped out saying put
virtual directories here.

Try editing
application.xml under the META-INF directory – that looks like it’s where
settings are defined (I’m playing with it now)

The
documentation also says that the web server supports virtual directories:
/smaller>/color>/fontfamily>
/smaller>/color>/fontfamily>
“/smaller>/color>Macromedia
does not recommend using the ColdFusion MX web server in a production
environment. However, it is more than suitable for development, allowing you to
create virtual directories and set the default document (for example,
default.cfm or index.cfm).”
/smaller>/fontfamily>
/smaller>/fontfamily>
I’ve dropped my application into the cfmx
web root and it works except it can not find any virtual directories so my
JavaScript and CSS files are not included. I can not find anyplace to set
virtual directories.

That web
server is quite limited – really only to be used for development (per
Macromedia’s recommendations).
/smaller>/color>/fontfamily>
/smaller>/color>/fontfamily>
Basically,
just drop your code in wwwroot under the cfmx root.

I’m using
the default web server that’s part of CFMX. Where do you go to administer
it, specifically setting up virtual directories?
