How about a Flash demo? From: S. Isaac Dealey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: 2002/08/01 Thu PM 08:41:02 CDT To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: Available Certified Advanced ColdFusion Developer

Hi Dave, thanks for the comments. Is there anything in particular you would want to see in a demo? ... I decided originally to avoid having a "live demo" of the cms application because it is so large and so detailed ( i.e. there are so many features ) that it would not be easily digestible in the few minutes that most people would spend examining it... I did however provide evaluation downloads of the cms and both add-on components for syndication and workflow on the site, with the caveat that downloading evaluations requires a membership on the site. These are of course provided with a 90 day licensed evaluation period, which should give IT managers enough time to perform a thorough examination if they like what they see. My hope was/is that this will help encourage a software community around the app ( as there is / was for spectra ), deter some people who aren't really serious about examining the viability of the software for enterprise application, and allows me to track the number of unique downloads ( as opposed to download-hits ). So on my back end when I look at my stats and I see 200+ downloads I know that figure isn't inflated by people possibly clicking the download link a couple times, or downloading it twice in different locations. This may or may not change in the future, it just depends what kind of time I have to set it up, what kind of demand there is for it, etc... Of course, every time I produce a new version or service pack for it, I let it be for a few months and I have all kinds of ideas ( or people offer suggestions ) about how to improve it further and then I'm thinking about when and how to produce another upgrade. :) Which is sort of the point I'm at right now. I've also thought about possibly simply linking to the documentation from the product pages, since they also include a number of screen captures which might give people an idea what the guts of the application are like, although there isn't much in the way of full-screen images, meaning, most of the images in the docs are clips of specific menus or tools that don't take up the whole browser window. As a matter of fact, for anyone who's curious, the help files can be found here: http://www.turnkey.to/ide/help/235.htm These are intended to be viewed from the application within a 350px wide ( resizeable ) popup window and admittedly some of them look pretty odd with the browser near maximized.
