Response to an old question concerning connecting
to MS Access in CFMX Administrator in Win98/ME.
DIRECTIONS:
Make sure you have the latest MDAC version from
MS.
Add the ODBC Data Source in Win98/ME first.
(Start>Settings>ODBC Data Sources - find
and add your Access mdb, same DSN is OK).
Then go into CFMX Administrator Data Sources and
Add the Data Source with the JDBC-ODBC bridge.
Your ODBC DSN will be in the drop
down!

Thanks. Can you step me through this
procedure? I'm a little unclear about how to try this.

If you are still having trouble with
this...
On win98se, I had db connectivity issues
downloading and running the Macromedia Pet Market which can run off of a
Access db. What I did was.... In the Administrator >
Data Sources, set up the Access db with a ODBC driver and gave it a Data
Source Name. Then, I added a new data source with different DSN and
used the JDBC to ODBC Bridge and pointed that to the original
DSN.
If this is what you did then, sorry I couldn't
help!

Re: Adding a new DSN
That was one of the first things I checked. It's
definitely not read-only.

I ran into
something similar a little while back. Verfy that your DB is not read
only.

I'm
brand new to Cold Fusion and have recently bought and installed the
developer edition included in Macromedia Studio MX. I'm using
the web server that comes with Cold Fusion. I follow the
instructions for creating a new DSN using Microsoft Access drivers.
I point at the database in
C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\elearning\databases\elearning.mdb
and I get this error message:
Connection verification
failed for data source: elearning []java.sql.SQLException:
SQLException occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please
check your username, password, URL, and other connectivity
info. The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException
occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your

Any
ideas? All of the Cold Fusion books seem to believe this is
completely idiot proof.
