To date my experience with datasources in CFMX is "sometimes they work and sometimes they don't"... with seemingly no real explanation as to why they work when they do or why the don't work when they don't. In some cases I've been able to a system dsn in the windows ODBC snap in and then use the ODBC Socket driver (Sun Microsystems has an ODBC socket driver -- not sure if it's the same one used in MX, but they don't recommend theirs except as a temporary last resort) ... Other times I've gone through all the exact same steps with the same type of db server and all the same configuration and the ODBC socket has still failed. YMMV...
