Have you tried applying the tabindex attribute to the form fields?
tabindex=1 ; tabindex=2 ; etc. Tabindex controls which object will come
into focus next when the user hits the tab button.

Also, for IE development in general, check out the following site.
Microsoft keeps reorganizing the MSDN library, so this section is often
times very difficult to find unless you have it bookmarked:

That'l help outline what you can or can't apply to objects and properites in IE (whether in _javascript_, HTML, DHTML, whatever)
