The biggest group in the DFW area by far (that has designers/photographers/illustrators/copywriters/etc) is dsvc.org Dallas Society of Visual Communications

They have a "job" page that gets 50K uniques a year. the CFUG should consider one of these on the new site. they have a forum too, although its infopop and not CF.

I think we could swing that--one of our members mentioned perhaps
contacting some of the graphic design user groups in the area and
swapping coding for design, which I think is a great idea. I didn't
see a local Dreamweaver or Fireworks UG though, but there is a Flash
group so as long as things didnt' go too overboard with Flash, that
might be cool.

If you're serious about the suggestion, I'll put up some coding time
in exchange for a winning design!

Hi folks,

The CFUG board has decided to overhaul our group's web site, so we
want your ideas! If there is specific functionality on the site that
you'd like to see, new features, etc. please send an email to the list
in response to this message (or feel free to email me directly). We
already have plans to add forum software that would augment the
mailing list and give people an additional way of keeping up with our
CFUG. We have several other ideas bouncing around, but any
suggestions you folks have would be fantastic. We want to make the
web site as useful as we can.

On that note, I'd like to solicit members (or any good designers you
know ...) for new logo and site design ideas. Some of us don't
usually get much into the design side of things, but I know we have
some creative folks on the list who will have some great ideas. We'll
be nailing down the details of this soon, but what I envision is
letting members vote on both the logo and the site design once we get
submissions, and I'm sure we can come up with a prize of some sort for
the winner. (I'll personally sponsor one if nothing else!) The
details of how this will work may change but I wanted to get the word
out now so people can start thinking on this.

So let's start coming up with some nice site and logo designs, and
please send them to me directly. Let's do screenshots for now because
that will make the voting easy. We'll give everyone until December 1,
2004 to submit your ideas and we'll do online voting in early
December.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to seeing
what ideas and designs you come up with for the site!

Thanks,
Matt
