They are both still in town and doing great. Matt's head of Marketing at a company called Tidel, and Tom has his own business (www.holotrope.com). Tom's also running GeekMeet now (www.geekmeet.com), and if doing a great job. If you haven't been out to one lately, you should!

If you interested in contact info, ping me off-list and I'll pass it along.

Dax or Jacob,

What ever happened to Tom Howard or Matt Johnson?

:)

Ya, that's them. Jake Mckee used to work there too,
and so did Dax Davis
who recently answered someone's question.

Nvision Design got bought by Vectrix Corporation and
then we all split up
after hiring and then firing a lot of people. It
was not pretty at the end.
Two of the owners of Nvision started: http://www.blockdot.com/ (the
Graphics Designer and C++ Coder). The third owner
(Website Development:
ColdFusion, hosting, and database development) is
now at:
www.imaginuity.com

The planet is not secure either. However, it's

better than that, they

take your drivers license, but don't read it or

compare it to your

name on the account or anything, but at least they

take it.

I haven't gotten a warm and fussy feeling with

security since I left

the SBC's datacenter. Also, the Quest datacenter

out by the airport

was secure also. I guess I should lookup my

contacts out at SBC and

see if I can get a deal there, I'm getting scared

of cheap hosting.

Funny story: I was with a company in 1998 doing

dedicated hosting

maintained by the planet for nvisiondesign.com. A

few days after

launch our home page was replaced with a guy

riding a goat.

The Planet left on
anonymous FTP:), but we got the 'hackers' ISP to

drop him for 6

months. I have been maintaining my own servers

ever since, but I

still rely on others for ping and pop.

Security sucks out there. If you know a company

that co-los there you

can go there and say "hi, I'm Jon with XYZ and I'm

here to pick up a

dead server."
They'll ask, "do you know what floor you guys are

on?"

"No, I've only been out here a couple times, I

don't remember." Then

you get an escort to the server rack and a kvm

cart wheeled over to

you if you need it, even a dolly if you just want

to go ahead and take

it.
No ID checks, no nothing. Once, they did make me

sign something and

write down my driver's lic I got a nice little

sticker badge with that

deal. Of course no one gave a whip because my lic

was all 1 and 0 and

they don't ask for the state, and my name on the

badge was Hugh G

Rection.

Oh, and every time I have gone out there, I have

been met by a

different person, so it's not like they just

recognize me.

I'm looking at good or bad experiences to help
