I figured it out…Plesk comes with MySQL, that’s why 3306 was being used.    From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ron Mast Sent: Saturday, November 20, 2004 11:45 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: MySQL DSN creation issue   Hi All, I just installed CFMX 6.1 and tried to create a datasource.  I also just installed MySQL 4.1.7 on port 3307.  I was able to create the DSN’s through window’s ODBC no problem.  But when I tried to create it through CF using ODBC Socket I get an error.  Then I noticed CF can create the DSN too, I didn’t need to use ODBC Socket.  I thought that might have been the problem so I deleted the windows DSN and rebooted, then I started creating the DSN’s through CF and I get this error:   Connection verification failed for data source: amysclients []java.sql.SQLException: Communication failure during handshake. Is there a server running on localhost:3307? The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: Communication failure during handshake. Is there a server running on localhost:3307?   MySQL wouldn’t allow me to install on port 3306…through the installation process there was a drop down for the port selection and I chose 3307.  The installation was successful.   Does anyone have a clue to what’s going on here?   Thanks, Ron
