The other great presentation we'll be having at our 12/7 meeting is
from New Atlanta, who will be discussing BlueDragon, specifically
their new version that allows CFML to be deployed on and interact with
.NET!

Deploying CFML on .NET with BlueDragon

Many by now know that both ColdFusion MX and BlueDragon 6.1 permit you
to deploy CFML on a J2EE server. This is important for shops moving to
standards-based architectures, for whom running ColdFusion (or even
BlueDragon) servers is no longer acceptable. But what if you're shop
(or a client) is moving to .NET? Macromedia's only current solution is
web services integration, but with BlueDragon/.NET it's possible to
run the CFML on the .NET framework. It's still just CFML, redeployed.
The opportunities for integration with native .NET component (ASP.NET
and more) are tremendous.

In this talk, veteran CFUG speaker Charlie Arehart, CTO of New Atlanta
(makers of BlueDragon) will explain the environment motivating this
need, as well as the enterprise integration possibilities it enables.
Even if you don't see a need to support .NET, you likely will. For
folks with large investments in CFML and CFML developers, it's a
unique solution that helps keep CFML alive and thriving. It might even
win over projects otherwise slated for ASP.NET!

Charlie Arehart is Chief Technology Officer at New Atlanta
Communications, and author of "journeyman cfml", a monthly column
featured in the ColdFusion Developer's Journal (CFDJ). He's also been
a featured columnist in the Java Developer's Journal (JDJ) and was
co-author of the Wiley book, "ColdFusion MX Bible". Charlie has also
been a featured speaker at many CFML-related conferences and local
ColdFusion User Groups around the country.
