Sounds like it was a great meeting. Sorry I had to miss it! Speaking of
CFMX 7, did you ever hear back from Team Macromedia about the cfchart issue?

For those of you on the list, CFMX7 appears to have altered the way charts
are handled. The bottom line is, if you specify a min /max for the y-axis
of the chart it might draw it differently if it appears you are approaching
the min/max values. So if you want your chart to show 0 - 100 in increments
of 25, you may or may not get it that way depending on your data values.
The chart builder now automagically expands the chart points if it thinks
you are getting too close to the min/max range. So you could end up with a
chart that has -50 to 150 if you had the values 1 and 99 in your data to
plot.

My experience is with a line chart. CFMX 6.x draws it perfectly. CFMX 7
draws the exact same code/data differently as described above. We spent
about 4-6 hours trying to get it to "behave" but to no avail.

Any input from the community would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Mark

Subject: Great meeting last night!

If you weren't at the meeting last night, you missed a great one!
Clint Tredway showed us the progression of the intranet from ASP application
to a Flash-based UI to the most recent version which was done with
Macromedia Flex. This was a really great example of how using an RIA can
vastly improve the user experience. Thanks for presenting Clint!

Patrick and I then gave an overiew of the new features in CFMX 7 and demoed
a sample application that Macromedia developed to show off CFMX 7. It's an
online banking application called "Experience Bank" and it illustrates how
you can provide your users with a better experience using CFMX 7. The
application included examples of Flash Forms, XForms, using the new
ColdFusion Report Builder, cfdocument, and the exciting possibilities of the
new SMS mobile phone text messaging gateway. I'm still waiting to hear from
Macromedia if I can distribute the code for this, so I'll let you know if I
can.

Next month is shaping up to be all about CSS and how it can make your life
easier, but if someone would like to present a bit more in-depth on one of
the new features in CFMX 7 just let me know. I'd like to have at least one
session per meeting on a new feature of CFMX 7 until we hit all the big
ones. Or, if you have an application you've built or cool stuff you're
working on and want to show it off, let me know!
It doesn't have to be a full-blown presentation--we just like to see what
our CFUG members are working on, and it gives you a chance to get feedback
as well.
