I ended up creating my own cheesy editor. Reason is I cannot get fckEditor to work on my server. I can get it to work at work, but not my server for localwebsites.biz. Can’t figure out if it’s a server setting or not.

I think I remember reading in the documentation for fckEditor that in the basePath you cannot have a period. I’m using plesk so I have folders labeled, for example, my site localwebsites.biz. Could this be the problem? If so what’s the work around if there’s one?

I do not have my code in front of me, but from memory I think there are 2 different values I have to set for where the fckEditor source is located. You can set a CF mapping to where the source is located and use CF mapping in basePath attribute. As far as the second setting goes, I could be getting it confused with something else.

I hope this helps.

Hmm, I downloaded it and unzipped it. I have the following files, fckconfig.js, fckeditor.cfc, fckeditor.js, fckstyles.xml, and fcktemplates.xm, in a folder called fck on my server.

I’m using the cfc.

<cfscript>

                        fckEditor = createObject("component", "fckeditor");

                        fckEditor.instanceName="myEditor";

                        fckEditor.basePath="Unsure";

                        fckEditor.value="This is my <strong>initial</strong> html text.";

                        fckEditor.width="100%";

                        fckEditor.height="200";

                        // ... additional parameters ...

                        fckEditor.create(); // create instance now.

</cfscript>

What exactly do I need to enter into the basePath? I’ve tried fck, and I get page cannot be found error.

Any clue?

Ron

I use fckEditor in my cfcpowerTools application. fckEditor is free and works pretty good.

Thanks - Tom

Hi All,

I’m looking for a free WYSIWYG HTML Editor for Coldfusion. Any suggestion?
