Kevin, 

I had the hardest time feeling comfortable with it at first, but Ike's
onTap framework does some really cool things in making apps simpler to
create.  Just the fact that you can write a form based on a table and
that form can automatically create the validation rules based on the
table (numerical only values, nulls allowed/not allowed, length of
strings,etc) can be a big timesaver.

By all means, though, check them all out.  I've tried most of them
out, even if it's just working through the tutorials and it's helped
me out quite a bit.
