Greetings party people & DanceSafe supporters!
You're invited to a special fundraiser event at UC Berkeley where we will be
screening "Generation E," a documentary I just completed on the new anti-drug
bill known as the R.A.V.E. Act. I've been working all year long on the project
and debuted it at the New Hampshire College Convention in January to an audience
of 50+ student activists. For those of you who don't know, the R.A.V.E. Act is a
federal law that makes it a felony to "knowingly" participate in the production
of any type of event or the opening of any type of space "for the purpose of
"any type of illegal drug activity. My feature length video includes discussions
of how the R.A.V.E. Act relates to the rave community, the War on Drugs, the
media, and the criminalization of American youths, as conveyed by individuals
including:
DJs Dyloot and Tom Slik (Skills)
Tracer and DJ Chavin (Tektite)
Uphonic (F-8/uphonic.com)
DJ Polywog and Amber (Sister SF)
Arnie Benson (B&B Security Staff)
Will Patterson (Electronic Music Defense & Education Fund)
Will Roscoe (PartySafe.org)
Terrance Alan (SF Late Night Coalition)
DJ Liam Shy (SF Youth Commission, Late Night Coalition)
Tom Ammiano (SF Board of Supervisors)
Wilson Riles (Former Oakland City Councilmember)
Micah Frazier (Formerly with the Harm Reduction Coalition)
Lani Riccobuono (Formerly with the ACLU of Northern California)
Plus many more insightful people!
