Ive been keeping up on this one... and i got a few bones to pick with this article..

1. the headline states "The Draft will Start in June 2005" (notice, capitolized are
"draft, start, june 2005") ... nobody knows if this will pass, not the writer, not
you, not me.

2. "the draft can begin as early as spring 2005". Love how they use all encompassing
season words to put a little emphasis on "early" 2005. June 15th actuall happens to be
during the last week of spring... misdirection for sensationalism. pheh.

3. The administration is qietly trying to get these bills passed now while the
public's attention is on thre elections". Darn those secretive bastards! theyre so
slick... that everybody knows about this!

4. "$28 million has been added to the selective Selective Service System budget to
prepare for a military draft." I think it should be noted that over 10 million of that
is for "Enhance external and internal customer service "

5. "Selective Service must report to Bush on March 31,2005" They
know who's gonna win the election?

6. "The pentagon has quietly begun a public campaign"
Contradiction in terms?

7. "Dodging the draft will be more difficult than those from the Vietnam era."
True, but it's still pretty easy to dodge if a person really doesnt want to go.
http://www.theorator.com/bills108/hr163.html sections 6 and seven define the details
of who's exempt and whatnot.

8. Thus far the article has mentioned "regardless of gender" or "women" a couple of
times... I really don't see why anyone should get preferential treatment by the
government based upon their gender.

If you guys want to do something to change this... call up your representatives. if it
doesn't pass the house of reps... it doesn't pass. it's that simple. If it doesn't
pass the house of Senate, it doesn't pass. So Call your senators too! If the president
at the time doesn't sign it, it doesn't pass. Contact the cantidates! If it passes and
you STILL don't want it... start up a referendum. There's 4 opportunities here for
this thing to get shot down hard. All opinions aside.. was it really nessecary for the
article to exaggerate, contradict itself and pretend to be phychic about whoever the
president will be in the future?

Sorry folks... it pisses me off when I see real issues like this manipulated to sound
better or worse than they actually are.
