My .ircrc included:

It's important that I tried to join a channel this way. Read ahead.
This error occurs _every_time_ when I try to execute epic with those
commands in my .ircrc.
I've just run a test... This bug does NOT appear when epic is run
_without_ LiCe. So maybe I should send this bug form to SrfRoG?
