I just discovered Pepakura is only converting 3D data files into paper designs. You need something like LightWave to construct the 3D model. I'm looking at MetasequoiaLE since it's free and supported by Pepakura. But M. is Japanese interface. Anyway, $38 is nothing compared to (1) learning curve and (2) designing the 3D model. Perhaps I can do a ONeil cylinder, but unlikely I can do anything more complicated. > Not related, but I tried to get a 1/60 paper craft RX-78 as template to do a > 1/144 Psycho Gundam a while back, but ended up only getting the head as I Somewhere I still have a (ahem) iffy version CDROM for the 1/30 (1/35?) Gundam and Zaku. Think I wasted 2 red cartiages on the Zaku print out. I went as far as finishing Gundam's head and neck. Took a LONG time. The rest of the print outs are still buried somewhere in boxes. The head may not have survived the move. It might be pretty tricky now to play the CDROM even if you find it on ebay. Ideally you need a vintage PC running Japanese version of Windows 95 or 98, and an older printer compatible with the OS. USB may not work. > don't have the complete file. What kind of printer you have (most important, > how wide) highly determine what scale you can do. Quite wrong. If you get BMP/TIF/JPG output, or PDF file. You can get it printed on whatever you desire (plain paper, cardstock, photo paper, perhaps even plastic film) at any size in a number of printshops such as Kinkos. Here is a myth: it's expensive. But printing at home usually isn't cheaper. The sky (or at least your wallet) is the limit. > Wonder whether old Bandai "Gundam Virtual Modeller" CD's MS 3D models could > be exported? I doubt it's worth the effort. It's a very old piece of software for entertainment purpose only. If it's anything like the paper model CDROM, you have to disassemble the binaries to extract the datafiles, assuming they are not encrypted. Also you may need to devote a vintage PC running Win 95/JP. > I thought it's obvious that I'm too lazy to do that. I really hope whenever Dude, it's less effort than messing with Gundam Virtual Modeller! > someone finish the model post a pic here though. Papercraft at this detail really take a huge amount of time to assemble. For a while I collect a huge pile of free models from the web, have not made a single one since the Gundam head. -- Dr. Core -------------------------------------------------- The Gundam Mailing List MK-II [email protected] Archives: http://www.gundam.com/gml Help: Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with this in the BODY: help list
