On Lycos, I quickly learned to just turn the spam protection off.  It 
frequently seemed as if the only messages the spam filter caught were mailing 
list related.

Its annoying having to manually delete all of the spam, but its easier than 
going through the spam quarantine folder and having to manually undelete a 
number of non-spam e-mails.
