I rather liked both of the KotOR games, myself.  The second game was done by 
the same group that's doing Neverwinter Nights 2 (since Bioware is trying to 
move away from licensed products).  I could be mistaken, but I think the 
company might be composed of people who used to work for Black Isle (which 
means that they've got a lot of experience working with Bioware :P ).  Can't 
remember the name of the company off the top of my head, though.

And for what it's worth, Lucasarts apparently pushed the second game out the 
door before it was finished.  There's even a screenshot in the hint book that 
shows an area of the game that didn't make it into the final game.  It was 
originally planned that there would be a droid factory that was producing all 
of the new HK series droids, and you'd have a mission to go deal with it if you 
were able to successfully locate it.
