Loved Pod Racer. Had no problems with it on my computer. My only real
complaint was that when your engine caught fire, it was more efficient to wreck
your racer and get a brand new one than it was to slow down and put the fire
out.

As for Force Commander, it's been a while but a few things come to mind right
off the top of my head.

- Stormtrooper formations that aren't tight enough to concentrate fire, but
aren't dispersed enough to avoid multiple casualties from rebel grenades. The
worst of both worlds, so to speak.

- Structures that you need and want to garrison, but don't have enough troop
strength to actually do so since the game won't actually let you order all that
many troops.

- A method of gaining resources that primarily seems to serve as a way of
making the stronger player even stronger. All other things being equal, bigger
armies tend to do a better job of killing than smaller armies, which means that
they're much more efficient at gaining resources in a game that only provides
resources through killing off your enemy.

I've played a number of the Lucasarts Star Wars games, and here's my
unsolicited opinion on many of them over the last decade or so.

Rebellion - good space combat engine, but the rest of the game wasn't as
exciting.
Pod Racer - Fun!
Dark Forces - all of the games were fun, imo, though the most recent one (Jedi
Academy) jumped around a bit too much.
KotOR - Both games were fun, though the second got pushed out the door too
quickly by Lucasarts, and felt like it.
Star Wars Battlegrounds - Age of Empires in Space! Got old a little fast,
though.
X-Wing: Alliance - So-so space combat sim.
Lego Star Wars - Played the demo. Seemed like fun. Heard it's fairly popular
with people who've played it.
Star Wars Galaxies - The best Star Wars tradeskill game ever! Of course, most
people (including me) were probably expecting something a little more like City
of Heroes, but without the fancy costumes. After all, making new pants isn't
exactly something that one ordinarily associates with Star Wars...
Star Wars Empires at War (I think that's the name) - This is the new RTS. The
space portion is fun, but the ground combat tends to get boring and repetetive
after the 30th land invasion on the tiny maps (which you need because anything
bigger would make the ground combat take much too long).
Battlefront I - Played it, got annoyed with the lopsided nature of the maps
after repeatedly being personally responsible for the deaths of over half the
rebels who died on Endor and STILL losing that map while playing as the Empire
(this was solo, not multi-player). I've heard the second game is much better,
though.
