I played through Morrowind, the first expansion, and most of the second one
(as you can probably guess, I played them on a PC). I've also got Oblivion.
And I've played Arena and Daggerfall (though I didn't finish either one -
the first was a friend's game that I borrowed, and I got the second one
after I had Windows 98, which caused periodic frustrating technical problems
with the old DOS based game). So yes, I like the Elder Scrolls games.

:P

I started with a knight and got partway through the main quest, but then
decided to reroll. I'm now playing a battlemage, and have gained access to
the guild in the Imperial City (which requires doing a quest in each of the
outlying towns first). I'm also about to restart the main quest, as I
haven't done very much with it at all this time around.

Combat has always been one of the weaker parts of the game series, and I'm
disappointed with the blocking system in the new game. And I quickly
realized that the sign that featured 'Troll-kin' (improved health
regeneration, but more vulnerable to fire damage) was probably a death
warrent in this game (where fire seems to be an extremely popular method of
dealing damage - related to that, playing a dark elf with the 75% damage
reduction from fire almost seems like easy mode). Also, the large number of
allies in the game means that I have to be much more careful with how I'm
using my weapon, since it's very easy to accidentally hit your allies
(fortunately, there's the 'Yield' option to help with the worst possible
side effect of that). But other than that it looks like another solid game.

Unfortunately, I'm one of the many people who're having problems with the
videos at the start (the corporate logos and the Emperor's monologue). The
sound stutters, and it causes the video to act up as well. From what others
have posted on the official forums, it appears to be related to certain
sound cards - including Creative Labs cards, such as my Soundblaster Live!
Value. The rest of the game is fine, however.

There was also an issue where a randomly appearing hazard (something that I
won't spoil, but anyone who's spent much time on the main quest can probably
guess what I'm referring to) ended up interfering with a quest related
battle in two ways. First, it caused some enemies to be practically right
on top of the location where the fight took place. And secondly, it also
caused an Imperial Legionnaire to stick around the area, and for some
unknown reason come to the aid of the bandit I was trying to deal with by
rabidly (and very efficiently) trying to kill my allies in the fight (though
he left me alone).

The game setting is a lot of fun. The Imperial Province (Cyrodil) isn't as
strange and alien as Morrowind was, but I read a lot of complaints about
that aspect of the previous game (though I personally liked it). Some of
the residents in the various towns are quite colorful, including the
paranoid, and the individual who lets slip her happiness over the fact that
the local punishment for necrophilia isn't anywhere near as bad as it is in
Morrowind.

*^_^*

Do you mean Necromancy? That is a lot different then Necrophilia. I have
never seen any reference to Necrophilia in these games before...

My frustration is on a minor quest in Cheydinhal. You are supposed to
follow an NPC to his house and an incident with a guard is supposed to
occur. The problem I am having is if I follow him to his house, I am stuck
in place an unable to move, view my journal, draw weapons, etc. All I can
do is look around and save/load the game. I was doing the main quest but
have been sidetracked with Dark Brotherhood quests. They are kind of
creepy. I miss the honorable Morag Tong from Morrowind...
