Make it totally un-sentient. Just make it a tissue or fiber that is
controlled by a computer. No life at all
I never did see the end of Gasaraki, but wasn't that the deal, there? That
there was some kind of biological tissue as the "muscles" of the TAs? I
seem to recall this was the plot of at least one other series as well.
