And, yet, Yaz's beautiful background artwork and expressive character designs help keep this severe compression from being a mere Cliff's Notes of the larger story. He even went out his way to make the Gundam F91 as much a character as the humans. That prospect may have been the only reason he agreed to do the project. > I want to see Jeanne too. It's something more than that, I think. One of the things about Giant Gorg that seldom gets mentioned is that, for all intents and purposes, it's an homage to King Kong with a giant robot in place of the giant ape and a fairly typical shonen hero in place of a feisty blonde heroine (although, thanks to Doris Wave, it's got that, too!).
